ALDI's Grocery Store is coming to Richmond in 2014!!!!

Aldi is coming to Richmond in 2014! The Richmond Time Dispatch just posted an article saying that Aldi will be here (did not disclose where in Richmond) later in 2014!

If you have never been to Aldi then you are in for a treat! There is one in Fredericksburg. They offer GREAT price and they even carry organic! When I went to visit my sisters in Pittsburgh last month- I went to Aldi everyday! I bought a bunch of stuff to take home with me (Olive Oil, Raisins, Real Vanilla Extract, String Cheese, Produce and lots more).

I have been saying for the longest that we need another grocery chain in this area so I am very happy to see Aldi coming!

  1. Woo-hoo! I nearly emailed Aldi this week to ask if there were any plans for Richmond. I'm burnt out on couponing and running around for the best deal. I'd love a one-stop shop for the basics, especially produce. Interesting trivia: Aldi's owns Trader Joe's.

Funny too that you mention visiting family in Pittsburgh and shopping there. I have family there, too, and I was bummed I didn't have a chance to stop. (I also lived in the Maryland burbs before moving to Richmond, and I think you've also mentioned family there. . . . Small world!)

    1. I was about to take a nap when I saw the article and bout jumped in the air! I hope they are planning to build multiple stores since Richmond Metro area is so large. I love that they don't have coupons. Makes my shopping trips easier! The Aldi's in Pittsburgh was 3 blocks away from my sister's house which was perfect! I am from Frederick, MD and I am going there next weekend so I may need to do a stop in Aldi!

  2. I am willing to bet the west end or chesterfield would have the first locations BC they probably went by population. When I was a kid we had Safeway and Winn Dixie for years but they went out of business. There was also Rack and Sak, not sure why they went out BC it was a nice store. Ever since Kroger started getting too big for their britches, about bit over a year ago here in Mechanicsville ( saying they could only take two printable coupons per manufacturer not per item... Silly right?). I had been hoping new stores would come out here and give them competition. I had been hoping for a BI-LO or a Publix to be honest, but an Aldi is a start. Kinda wish a Whole foods would come to Hanover. Funny, when Kroger first came here they were the only store that doubled and the most coupon friendly... except for Kmart on certain days and Weds in Ukrops. Thankful that Giant came here too! Unfortunately the show 'Extreme couponing ' has brought around major changes with couponing and no stores will be as great as they were prior to so much promoting of couponing. A lot of changes have happened over the past 6-7 years.

    1. Yep I have noticed a ton of changes in the last 3-4 years since I started my site. It is a shame but it is what it is. My sister has a Publix (Savannah) and it is a nice store! I was hoping for a Wegman's but Aldi is a start! I am glad to see that some competition is coming to Richmond!

  3. SO excited - PLEASE let it be in the West End! I know that's selfish since we have Trader Joe's and Whole Foods but they are inconvenient and expensive (Whole Foods).

  4. Aldi will be located in the new Hancock Crossing Shopping Center, across Hull Street from the new Wal-Mart/Dick's/Hobby Lobby near the entrance to Woodlake in Midlothian. More information can be found here: http://www.taylorlongproperties.com/pdfs/Hancock-Crossing.pdf

  5. Well, sorry to bear bad news, but Taylor Long's website (see link in my post above) just got updated and no long lists Aldi as the anchor tenant, saying that the anchor space is now available for lease. Oh well.
